Partially unveiled earlier this year, Mitsubishi is finally giving us a full look at its all-new 100% electric SUV, the Eclipse Sportback.
The Eclipse Sportback may be new to the Mitsubishi lineup, but the model benefits from years of experience since it is based on the same platform as the Nissan LEAF. This is excellent news, as the technologies developed for the LEAF have already proven themselves over many years. What makes things even more interesting is the fact that the Eclipse Sportback is backed by Mitsubishi’s legendary 10-year/160,000-kilometre powertrain warranty.
Similar, but Unique
Even though the two SUVs look quite similar, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback features several unique elements that help set it apart from the LEAF, particularly when it comes to the grille and front bumper.
The Japanese automaker’s SUV is equipped with a 75-kWh battery pack, allowing it to store enough energy to offer a range of 454 kilometres on a full charge. The Eclipse Sportback will be compatible with Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 charging, as well as Tesla chargers (NACS). Level 3 charging should allow the Japanese automaker’s SUV to charge from 10 to 85% in less than 35 minutes.
Coming to Dealerships Soon
Sales of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback will begin this coming October. Pricing has yet to be announced, but Mitsubishi assures us that it will be very competitive compared with the rest of the segment.
This isn’t the only new model joining the Japanese automaker’s lineup over the next few months, as Mitsubishi has already announced that a new SUV based on the Outlander, with enhanced off-road capabilities, will be unveiled in early 2027.
